Llamrai Arabian Stud was founded in 2010 as a joint venture by owners Sarel du Toit and Janke Kleefstra.  The stud, situated 138km from Windhoek airport on the Dordabis road, forms part of the Lauwater West Game and Cattle Ranch.

Llamrai is the expression of a lifelong dream by it’s owners to own and breed Arabian horses.  Sarel, a keen endurance rider, grew up with horses and needed no introduction to the versatility and functionality of the Arabian.

Captivated by the beauty and elegance of the breed, Janke passionately researched and sourced the bloodlines that would lay the foundation for their future success. The vision of the stud is to breed competitive endurance horses that retains the beauty and refinement that the arab horse has been treasured for for centuries.  To breed a horse with both stamina and looks, they incorporated some of the most famous bloodlines from all over the world.  Temperament has also always been a top priority for both Janke and Sarel ensuring that the horses they produce will become valued companions that are gentle and easy to work with.

Nile Prince SMF, bred by Silver Maple Farm in California, is the stud’s leading sire.  Out of world renowned champion stallion Simeon Shai, who him self is not only an Arab Horse Breed Record holder, but was also chosen as “Sire of Significance AHA Legion of Honour Winner” in the USA, Nile Prince is sure to pass onto his offspring all the qualities that has proven his bloodline in both the showring as the endurance track.  Nile Prince himself made quite an impression as the National Champion Senior Stallion at the 2012 Namibian Arab Horse Nationals. Great things are expected of this promising young stallion.

The stud’s broodmares are a combination of Polish, Egyptian and American bloodlines.  The straight Egyptian mare,GR Moufeedah,  was awarded National Champion Senior Mare at the 2012 Namibian Arabian  Nationals. GR Safirah and GR Moufeedah  were bred in Germany by  Rothenberg Stud. Zlota Brama  is a mare imported from Poland and a grand daughter of the world famous Monogramm.

Sarel and Janke are very pleased with the foals produced by their breeding program so far. They are looking forward to foals next season by Magic Dream CAHR, Charismatic BVA and the performance sire Baywatch V.  The future surely looks bright for this up and coming stud and we look forward to the first Llamrai champions on the endurance trail and in the showring.
